Wager games & mining

The other half of the arcade. These move KAL, the site's free play-money currency, so they need an account — but they live right here now rather than in a separate menu.

Every new account starts with 500 KAL and a free mining rig that pays 60 KAL an hour, running whether you are online or not.

Arcade questions

Do I really not need an account?

Correct. Every game in the grids above -- full games and mini games alike -- opens and plays with no account at all. The site drops a single anonymous id cookie so it can remember your best score and level between visits on this device.

The only thing an account changes is where scores are stored: guest runs live on your device, account runs go on the public leaderboard and follow you to any browser you log into.

What happens to my guest scores when I sign up?

They move with you. On sign-up the server takes the guest profile attached to your cookie and merges it into the new account: total XP, games played, every per-game personal best, and any achievements you already unlocked. Your bests are then published to the leaderboards as if you had been logged in the whole time.

If you sign up on a different device you can still pull the progress across from the original one with the Claim guest progress button on your profile page.

How is XP calculated?

Every finished run gives XP based on its score, scaled per game so that a 40,000 point Stack Fall run and a 60 length Neon Snake run are worth roughly the same. A single run is capped at 500 XP so nobody can farm one game forever.

Achievements give a flat XP bonus on top. Levels use a curve, so level 2 arrives fast and level 20 takes real time.

Do the games work on a phone?

Yes. Every game gets on-screen touch controls automatically on touch devices, and the canvas resizes to a taller aspect ratio on narrow screens. Mine Field has a dedicated flag-mode button since phones have no right click, and Merge 2048 accepts swipes.

My score did not save. What went wrong?

Scores are submitted at the moment a run ends. If the request fails you get a toast saying so, and the score still counts as your local best. The most common causes are the server being restarted mid-game or a browser extension blocking the request.

If it keeps happening, open a support ticket with the game name and roughly what you scored.
